Day 27: The Backpack Hostel
October 1st, 2012
We are here, safe and sound in Cape Town now!
We checked out of our hotel last night at 11:15pm, took a couple buses to the main highway to get on the Intercape Bus and head to Cape Town.
We thought we were going to be broke after the R500 hotel but the tickets for the bus were only R300 each …. Could have been worse!
We arrived in Cape Town at 5:30am and slept in the bus terminal until The Backpack opened at 7:00am. Let me just tell you, 7:00am for all you early birds is VERY early compared to some other backpacking lodges.
We were SO lucky to have The Backpack open at 7 and right on time, not a minute later! And ON TOP of it all, our room was clean and ready for us at 7:00am which again, usually doesn’t happen! Our luck is beginning to change! 🙂
We took a ‘nap’ from 7:00am – 1:00pm in our sweet haven. I have never loved a bed so much as I did this morning. Living like queens yet again, no surprise there!
These Hostelling International hostels are incredible!
Since today was a little out of wack, waking up at 1 and being ready for 3:30pm, we just hung out in the bar, planning excursions and meeting the workers here at The Backpack. All whom are amazing – amazing energy, amazing smiles, and amazingly supportive!
We also took a stroll down the infamous ‘Long Street’… Pubs, bars, shops, hotels – everywhere! 8 more days in South Africa, living at The Backpack? I think we can deal! Haha – this place is amazing!
