Surprise, surprise! Our first destination of the #holidaycountdown tour that I will be taking my momma on is in Frankfurt! We are absolutely loving our stay at the MEININGER Hotel Frankfurt Airport and we are heading to the MEININGER Hotel City Center next! Here are some awesome ways to celebrate the holidays while in Frankfurt and we’re going to try and get to as many of them as possible!

Frankfurt

Here are 9 Holiday Activities You’ll Have to Check Out in Frankfurt:

  1. Frankfurt Christmas Market
Why not start with the most obvious of them all? If you’re making a stop in Frankfurt over the holidays, you cannot miss out on their incredible Christmas Market!
  2. Hansel und Gretel at the Frankfurt Opera House
This is an opera, gone theatre… I haven’t actually been myself but I’ve seen a few videos from the performance and I would love to experience it during the holidays, perhaps this year?
  3. Ice skating at Gerbermühle
Skating at the pictorial mainshore with view at the frankfurt skyline.
    Opening hours: 15th of November 2014 – 15th of February 2015, Mon-Fri: 11am up to 10pm
    Sat-Sun: 11:30am up to 10pm
    Entry: adults € 4,00; kids/ youth (until the age 18) € 2,50
    Rental  € 4,00

Gerbermühle Frankfurt, Gerbermühlstraße 105, 60594 Frankfurt am Main

  4. Peter Pan at the Schaus Spiel Frankfurt
You’re right, it’s all in German and I still don’t know much German, especially not enough to understand what they’re saying during the play. I still think it would be such a neat experience to watch a German Peter Pan performance in Frankfurt over the holidays!
  5. Christmas Concert at Johanniskirche
I have to be honest, I don’t think I’ve gone to a Christmas Concert since I was a child, but I’ve heard the performers at the Frankfurt Christmas Concert are suppose to be quite impressive.
  6. Weihnachtissimo – Aboard the Nautilus Boat for Christmas
I’ve wanted to do this for a while, it is a beautiful boat cruise aboard the Nautilus for a feast, live music, dance, magic, juggling and mulled wine! Just the Christmas party anyone would be looking for!
  7. Winterlicther – Winter Dreams Garden at Palmengarten
Alternating their usual palm garden, this place is turned into a magical winter wonderland for the holidays. They are equipped with hundreds of lights throughout the garden sending sparkle and shine to all of the flora throughout the premises. Blended with beautiful music and video, the Palm House has put on a miraculous winter wonderland trail that leads to their Cafe of Winter Lights.
  8. Jump on Board the Ebbelwei Express Train for Sight Seeing and Cider
Kids or no kids, I’m so doing this! It is a small little train that drives through the city of Frankfurt showing you all there is to know about the areas. Over the holidays they still run and offer you hot cider to keep you warm during your relaxing winter tour.
  9. Christmas Shopping at Fressgass
This is one of the most famous streets in Frankfurt known for their delicious food, live events, gourmet shops and boutique stores. If you’re really looking for a unique experience, this is the place to be!
