Another blog about another pass, why? Because I think it’s so neat as a tourist to be able to go back and read people’s legitimate reviews on city passes. I’ve done so many city tours that were a waste of money, extremely boring, not what I expected, or worse, all of the above. So for you, here is my honest opinion on the Strasbourg Pass and whether or not it is worth it.

In all its glory, here is what the Strasbourg Pass includes:

– Free visit to a museum of your choice
– Free Ascent to the cathedral platform
– Free bicycle rental for half day
– Free boat tour through Strasbourg
– Free astronomical clock tour of the cathedral

– Half price on a second museum
– Half price on the mini-tram tour
– Half price on your visit to the “Vaisseau”
– Half price on an audio-guided visit to the old town
– And more!!!

So you want to know my honest perception of this card? Here it goes:

Overall, the Strasbourg Pass costs $16.90 for adults and less than $9.00 for children. The price itself makes the pass extremely worth it given that not all attractions are very affordable across the old town. Were all the inclusive tours and offers worth it? Absolutely not, but the card itself is worth it even when taking part in just two of the 10+ offers and excursions.

Ascent to the Cathedral Platform:

This is an incredible experience while in Strasbourg as this ancient Cathedral is almost 1,000 years old (in 2015) and has one of the most remarkable views in the city. The cost per person to go up is 5 Euros, but with the Strasbourg Pass – FREE

Astronomical Clock:

Only a couple of bucks on any given day, but FREE with the Strasbourg Pass, if you’re already at the Cathedral, it’s definitely worth it just to stop in to view the Astronomical Clock.

Batorama City Boat Tour:

Regularly 12.50 Euros per person, you get a remarkable boat tour for FREE with the Strasbourg Pass. I’ve done a few boat tours in my time and I have already done the Strasbourg boat tour twice now because I find the English translation of the tour to be relatively humorous despite the terrible stories told through history. Not only is the tour done very well but the sights are beautiful and if you have an open-roof boat, you can take quite the photos of the old city.

Strasbourg By Bicycle:

We actually didn’t end up using this coupon given that we were so busy entertaining ourselves along the river banks and relaxing in the sun. If you know how to ride a bike well, definitely take the opportunity to explore the city this way. I for one am not a very well-trained biker and find that I enjoy touring much better by foot. If you’re extremely experienced, try doing the audio-guided tour while on a bike!

Audio-Guided Tour of the Old City:

There aren’t too many guided tours of the old city, but the audio-guided tour allows you to take it at your own pace, skip through what you don’t want to hear about, and enjoy your experience to the best of your ability without having to follow a guide and a group of other tourists.

Free Tour of Museum of your Choice:

It’s incredible that you can choose from 9 different museums of your choice which hopefully means you are bound to find the right one for you. We decided to adventure into the Strasbourg Archeological Museum and took all of 15 minutes before we got tired and bored of seeing old artifacts in glass windows. Though I can’t say much about the other 8 museums, I would skip out on this museum if I were to come back again.

Regardless of good or bad experiences among the different offers in the Strasbourg Pass, not every offer will be suitable for what you like to experience. The great this is that there is so much to offer between tours, museums, boat rides, segway rides, and more that you should be able to make up your money’s worth even within one day of visiting the city.

In conclusion, even if you’d just like to go up the Cathedral and take a nice boat ride along the River Ills, you’re already saving money by purchasing the Strasbourg Pass so I’d say absolutely, 100% buy the pass and use it to your full advantage!
