Well, after visiting over 20 countries, I was bound to figure out which airlines I get excited to get onto and which ones I dread. I am not picky when taking international flights, I don’t expect any luxury service or spacious leg room, I just expect to fall asleep and get it over with. However, that is not without saying that I wouldn’t appreciate anything better than that.
What makes an airline the best airline to fly internationally?
1. Comfortable Seating:
Airplane seats are airplane seats, especially in economy class. I don’t expect full luxury but the best part of GOOD airlines is the comfy seats that don’t stick to you and when the head rest has the two bendable wings that you can use to rest your head on so you don’t fall asleep on the person next to you.
2. Unlimited Movies:
When I get on an international flight and I realize that there are unlimited new and updated movies on board, I instantly get a burst of joy and fully realize that there will be little sleeping for me.
3. Great Food:
Surprisingly, the stereotypical ‘airplane food’ isn’t all that inedible anymore. Certain airlines actually have delicious meals and some even offer brand name chocolate bars after every meal and all you can drink wine and beer.
4. 24/7 Food Availability:
The biggest annoyance for me while I’m on a flight is that I constantly have to try and keep myself awake so I don’t miss out on any of the meals. For some people this isn’t such a big deal, for me, I need food. I hate waking up realizing that I just missed a delicious looking dinner or the Hagen Das bars that I missed on my last flight. Having this food available when I wake up at the back of the plane is remarkable!
5. Having Lenient Staff:
Some of the worst situations in a flight that is over half empty is when the stewardess will not allow you to change seats because the seat you booked is the seat you paid for. If the staff are lenient and there is an entire empty row next to you, being able to spread out on a long haul international flight is absolutely the best you can get in economy class.
So after flying economy class multiple times, more times than I can even count, I think that my absolute favorite airline would have to be Air Canada. I have never been in business class or first class before but let me tell you, when that day comes my expectations will be MUCH higher and I do intend on booking a first class flight one day in my lifetime to check off the long winded bucket list of mine. One day, some day!
I totally get this post! I avoid some airlines and pay extra money to get onto an airline where I know I’m going to get good service and have a nice experience. If you haven’t already flown them I would highly recommend you trying out Air New Zealand (the best airline in the world but I could be biased) – you can order food on the touch screen in front of you and it’s delivered to your seat by a cabin crew member; as well as having the friendliest staff around xx
